Read this entry with one caveat

Verified from the Camden Middle School 2026-2027 student and parent handbook, which the district publishes. We do not claim it describes Camden's elementary schools or Camden High. Two things to know about the document. It is internally inconsistent about time: the device section defines the school day as 7:40 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., while Sports Study Hall is described as running 2:30 to 3:05 PM with a device check beforehand. And parts of the handbook are template text from another state - the discipline and dress sections cite New York State law. The device rules recorded here are not affected by that: they sit under a heading reading “Personal Internet Enabled Devices”, with school-issued Chromebooks covered separately under “School Issued Electronic Devices”, and they use Camden's own school-day hours.

Period by period

1 of 6 not yet verified

Each row is either something this district’s own document says, or an explicit admission that we have not found it. We never infer one period from another. Passing time, lunch and study hall, the three periods the statute never mentions, are marked with an amber rule.Q8

How phones are stored

A local choice, not a state one

Varies by school

Different schools in the district use different storage methods.

"Devices must be stored in lockers or backpacks and should not be seen, heard, or used during the school day." Devices may not be carried in hand or used in hallways.

What happens if the rule is broken

The device is turned in to the Main Office and returned at the end of the day. Consequences may include Main Office detention, extended school day detention, or in-school suspension.

Asking for an exception

The statute names what a policy must accommodate

Four "Approved Exceptions" are listed: educational use with teacher or administrator permission for a specific lesson; a Sports Study Hall device check from 2:25 to 2:40 PM; Main Office use to contact a parent or guardian; and health, safety, legal or IEP/504 needs as required. No waiver form is described.

The statute itself names circumstances a policy must accommodate, including an IEP, a 504 plan, a documented health plan, translation needs, certain caregiving responsibilities, and emergencies.s.2.b(3)-(5)
